The face hole of the 1984-1996 jeep XJ cherokee is exactly single din, but the frame behind it is much larger and cannot support a radio at all without a bracket to anchor to the sides beyond the radio bay. The stock radio has this bracket, and they sell kits to replace it if needed for aftermarket radios, but buying stuff is for chumps. This printed adapter will center a radio between the two side holes so that it can be installed securely behind the front face plate. Tabs on an aftermarket radio sleeve should have no trouble anchoring to the back of the adapter, and the sleeve lip should hold nicely around the front. There is a good chance this bracket will also work for many other vehicles from the early single din days.
