Connectors of USB extension cables are often unreliable so I decided to attach one end of a USB cable directly to a USB to RS232 converter PCB. I also designed a small shoe/case for a PCB to prevent short circuits on the bottom and to hold the cable in place. The case is designed such that the PCB clips into it. The bottom side has a window so the pin names are still visible.
PCB: 30mm x 17mm,
Cable diameter: 3.5mm.
