Printing (shown sample): - Ultimaker 3 with a 0.4mm AA print core, - material Ultimaker Black PLA, - standard UM profile, - normal resolution (0.15mm), - printed with brim (7mm) directly on the clean print bed glass. The housingL, the housingR, and the Base printed without supports. The topBck and the topFrnt printed with supports (modifications from std profile: Support Overhang Angle 61deg, Support Density 30%). Additional parts: - locating/connecting pins diam 2.0mm L=6-8mm (x8). I used a 2mm brass pipe to make the pins. - glue. Before assembly remove the original spool holder and remove the NFC reader PCB with the connecting cable from the original spool holder. Disconnect the cable connector from the PCB. Assembly: NOTE: - The parts can be glued together without the locating pins, however I would recommend to have at least some of them. - If you want to use the locating pins, finish the holes by drilling with 2mm drill bit (holes depth is 4mm). Then make lead in chamfers using a bigger diameter drill. - I used pins with press fit which allowed me to connect parts without gluing. 1. Place the locating pins in the holes, 2. Press together and glue the housing (housingL and housingR). 3. Press together and glue the top cover (topFrnt and topBck). 4. Pass the NFC cable with the connector through the opening inside the housing. 5. Plug the cable back at the PCB. 6. Place the PCB in its place in the housing and secure the cable in the key hole slot. 7. Slide on the top cover over the PCB and press together with the housing. Do not use glue if you want to be able to disassemble it later. 8. For the self standing variant press the housing onto a base (place the cable in a groove at the bottom of the housing).
