I've uploaded the Sketchup files if they're any use for making mods...?

I'm trying not to change your design as it is, as you say, very efficient and any changes will reduce that. The easiest option is to chop a bit of wood and fit the fan assembly pointing the other way.

Thanks for replying!

I put the part2 fan in that orientation to try to have at least some of its airflow to be straight into part1. If you turned it around, it would be a lot less efficient as its airflow would be into into a 90 degree corner.

It's possible to push the part2 fan in by about 10mm without too much effort. From there, maybe rotating it clockwise by a few degrees might help? The less you can rotate it, the less its airflow will be disrupted, but you could go up to about 90 degrees if you really had to.

Yes, it's the official heated bed. I've tried every possible combo to try to get it to fit but it just won't go in. If the hole where the fan mounts attached to each other was rectangular I would reverse the Part 2 fan - it wouldn't be as efficient as they would be pulling air in from the same area but I think it would fit. I think I am going to have to cut some wood to get it in.

The official heated bed, I presume? I've got a 3dprinting_hk kit from ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heated-Bed-Kit-for-Ultimaker-Reprap-3d-Printers-MK2-PCB-Aluminium-plate-/161157442118) which can be put anywhere. I guess if you were prepared to cut the wood, then it'd be possible to shuffle the parts around a bit to make it all fit (in fact, you could get better airflow if that was an option). If not, then it's possible the fans could be squashed in together a bit closer - the 'part2' fan could be moved about 10mm inwards - not sure if that would help or not though.

This is a great design, but I had to remove it when I upgraded to the heated bed as the electronics you fit go in the same place as the far fan.
