Uploaded the modified file. Since there is a small lip at the end of the holder, I set the spindle's diameter to 50mm so you can fit it on there. The spindle length from the inside of the bevel to the edge of that lip is 101.5mm, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting it to sit down on the spindle. That being said, if you have any suggestions for improvement, or a "better fit" for a spool with a given inner diameter or width, I am all ears and more than willing to adjust my equations. I confess that I designed this for my own use and simply smiled that it worked "well enough." But since I've put the model out there, I'd like to make sure that it meets your needs, not just my own.

Sorry for the delay - been a fun few days. I checked the Colorfabb site to make sure I had the right spool size. They're showing a 52mm inner diameter, and showing 102mm width for the XL spools. https://support.colorfabb.com/support/solutions/articles/13000003167-what-is-the-size-of-the-spools- I'll drop the ID down a notch so it should fit the spool, and I'll widen it out to about 102mm.

Will you put an STL online for a spool with 100mm width? :-)

Hello Solonari, Thanks a lot! The inner diameter of the big spool is 53mm and the width is 100mm. I would prefer 2 STL's, one for a spool with diameter 53mm and one for a spool with 52mm diameter... Cause I want to avoid friction on the spool holder. cheers!

If you've got the dimensions (diameter of the spool hole, width of the spool), I'll gladly see about tossing another STL on the stack for those. :) So far, it looks like it's probably an inner diameter of 53mm and the spool is about 54mm wide, so I'll see about putting up a new STL. Let me know if your spool is different.

Sure thing! Moving from 97.7mm total length to 147.7mm, for a 5cm increase. Shouldn't have any negative effects, so I'm just going to re-upload with the update.  I'd accidentally left off the Y offset calculation for the spindle groove, so thanks to you I've got that worked in there as well.<div><br></div><div>STL file size went up a bit due to my tweaking precision settings with another project, but a little extra precision usually doesn't hurt.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I welcome any other suggestions for improvement on the design.<br></div>
