The aim of this project was to create a working model of a Swiss lever watch escapement in order to demonstrate its principles of operation. It was intended for model to have the minimal number of parts and be 3D printable.
The escape wheel, pallets and roller jewel geometry were designed with the techniques described in “Clock and Watch Escapement Mechanics” by Mark V. Headrick.
To simplify the design, the weight is applied directly to the escape wheel. The mechanism is assembled with metric M3 and M6 fasteners.
The mechanism offers adjustment to beat rate, beat error and pallet banking.
Approximate run time is 30 seconds per 1 meter drop of the mechanism weight.
