Protein models of an _Arabidopsis thaliana_ receptor and its ligand.
First, the ectodomain of RLP30, which belongs to the leucine-rich repeat receptor-like proteins (LRR-RLPs) and is required for the perception of the MAMP SCFE1 coming from Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Zhang et al 2013)
And necrosis and ethylene-inducing peptide 1 (Nep1)-like protein (NLP), which is a widespread toxin present in bacteria, fungi and oomycetes (Ottmann et al, 2009; Lenarčič et al, 2017)
EDIT: Added a a base for the RLP30. I used a 100 mm (diameter 2 mm) metal rod to hold the protein model.
