No, your spool should only rest on the triangular shaped part. The semi-circle is just a spacer is the so the spool doesn't interfere with the Y arm when it gets to the top.

Thanks Mike, I realized this after my print (and post). I'm wondering if the semicircle bit near where it mounts is supposed to fit inside the spool as that is too large a diameter to fit my BluMat spool and I may also need to change that if it should indeed fit inside that.

Bonesteel, <div><br></div><div>If you need a support for a wider spool, just increase the scale of the holder length-wise.</div><div><br></div><div>For example, I also wanted a spool holder to go on the left of the handle so I just mirrored the part and scaled it to a longer length so the spool cleared the Y-axis stepper motor (I use a scale multiplier of -1.3 on the length-wise axis in Repetier). By the same token it produced a longer spool holder able to carry 105mm wide spools.</div><div><br></div><div>Mike</div>

Note, this design will not work for all PLA spool sizes. Specifically, I just purchased some BuMat PLA from Amazon and the spool is too wide for the handle to support it. When I get the time, I'll look to modify, but I thought others should know. Thanks

TomG, Sorry, the handle is meant to mount with M3 10 screws not M3 16. The changes have been made to the BOM. Thanks, The Printrn

I tried using M3 16mm screws and they were too long for a snug fit. I threaded them all the way into the handle until they stopped and there is still a ~2mm gap between the bottom of the socket head and the spool holder base.
