Yep, the aluminium boards act as a small cooler on there own. If you didn't drive the LEDs with maximum current the cooling effect might be enough. The temperature of the aluminium board of my 3W LED jumps to 70°C in almost no time and I have lost one by not cooling the board after about 40 sec. of full power.

i thought the aluminium board a a kind of passive cooler ... :> well my leds are working still very good, but i have to say that the are controlled by high middle and low frequencies of music.

how do you manage the temperature of the LED bracket? As far as I know, the aluminium board as to be cooled to keep the LED alive.
