Project description
The students of the 6th grade were asked to create presentations on their iPad devices in their English lesson. The topic of the project was to choose the most popular English monuments and make presentations, which they would later present in class. Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster Abbey, the Statue of Nelson, Admiralty Arch and the Houses of Parliament were chosen.
Stage 1 – Create a diorama
We created a diorama of London which we put on a chipboard. The pupils were separated in groups and used the SketchUp programme in order to create the monuments in the best scale so as to match the scale of the diorama.
Stage 2 – Create 3D monument
Later, we printed in our school’s 3D printer the monuments. When all the models were created, each group coloured the model they had created trying to make them similar to the real ones, by looking photos on the Internet.
Stage 3 – Create presentation
each group created a presentation referring to their sight. They looked up for information on the internet and created presentations on the keynote as they had already been taught in class.
Stage 4 – Presentations
Finally, the presentations were shown to their classmates.
