Hi, I'm having some under-extrusion issues with the 2.85mm version of this on my um2+...had tried everything but cannot seems to be able to resolve the issue...anyone help would be appreciated.

Hello and thank you for your work. The bondtech drive gear set with shaft and bearings is currently being sold by aliexpress for 16 Dollars ;) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/upgrade-Prusa-i3-MK2-5-teel-Bondtech-pulleys-for-DIY-Prusa-i3-MK3-3d-printer/32862479105.html Yes, it is for Prusa i3 but i think it is exactly wat wie need here, too. btw. Where did you get the metal shaft adapter from? Have you pressed off the original filament gripper ring? Thank you.

Would you be able to modify the design to accommodate the following gear set? A lot cheaper than the bondtech ones. https://printrbot.com/shop/gear-head-extruder-gear-set/ Thank you!

Indeed Deathmachine clasical extruders Gear + bearing pressing down, can push anything, at the expense of precision and grinding. This uses bondtech because imo is the best option available. I have use mk7-mk8 for a year and they often lack of precision while doing tons of retractions, making weak filaments a mess to control (like wood or carbonfiber filaments that can snap) and sometimes flattening the filament on summer fue the bearing pushing flat the filament. I did use the um2+ feeder for 1.75 and while it can work, it can't push and work reliable for highspeed or good jobs. That's why I made this, to have a really good extruder, I'm very pushy when it comes to retractions. Ofc, at the moment my um3 is off, Gudo and I are planning to make a ZGE for the um3, that will be a much better option anyhow. Also, each print version is for one kind of filament just because bondtech gears are made for each kind of filament, you can't push 1.75 with 2.85 bondtech drivegears, and if you use 1.75 for 2.85 you would have to use the 2.85 version, that will leave open gaps inside the feeder that could allow flexibles to roam free. While you could, it might not be the best.

Looks great how is it working for you. One thing that always interested me in these extruders they should be able to do both filament sizes. Just change out the bowen tubes. I've ran a bunch 1.75 through my stock UM2 olsson.
