I leave the smaller end cap on and just slip the spools over it. Otherwise the tube is long enough to hold it even with a spool on it to change the end cap.

I have similar one on my Ultimaker II extended. Do you do plan to keep it from rotating to unscrew the end cap, so you can change the spool?
