I made the OpenSCAD model from scratch, though I
used sota919's Minion on Thingiverse as a guide. Having an OpenSCAD
model allowed me to modify the parameters as I needed.
I printed a small version of the full single-eyed minion, but the
main purpose was as a joke at work. I printed a large minion with a
hole in the middle of it, and placed one the products that I helped to
develop at work inside of it. Got several laughs at our company party.
In the picture showing all 3 minions that I printed, there are
holes/gouges in the smaller painted minion. That is because the hole
that I created (for placing the product inside of) was just smaller than
the full-size minion. When I scaled it down for the smaller minion, it
was too thin for my printer to print, and it silently decided to omit
that material. So, for the files that I uploaded, I made the walls
slightly thicker, so I wouldn't expect these models to have that
problem. Of course if you are modifying the OpenSCAD files, size to fit
your own needs.
Disclaimer: I do not own the rights to Universal's Despicable Me franchise, but I did create these models from scratch.
I am a firmware engineer, but my education is in mechanical engineering. I particularly like to work on projects that involve electronics, firmware, and mechanical hardware. And cupcakes.
