Description

Update 20180614: v4 is here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/action-camera-diver-s-handle-4-aussieland-edition Check out 2nd version of diver handle here: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/gopro-diver-s-handle-v2I made two spikes which can be screwed into the bottom of the handle to fix the handle into the sea bottom and record sea eels. The spikes can be screwed into the grips too to raise the camera from the sea bottom. You can also store them in the grips if you turn them in reversed.Layer height = 0.1 mm.100% infill = spikes, mount, grips. Note: the mount does not require support but you have to clean the edges.20% infill = left & right holder parts.I made the entire model in a more-or-less easy to read openSCAD script so you can easy fit the model dimensions to your need. I also separated the GoPro mount creation script to a single module to help reusing it in other projects. To assemble the handle you will need two 25 mm M5 stainless steel bolts and two M5 nuts. If you prefer imperial sizes you can change it in the script and re-render the holders and the mount.

I still want to go diving there have heard great things. It should be rather inexpensive also at the moment. I hear that the people are really happy to see tourists there. But, there are some negative travel advisories for that region.

For selfies just turn it back :) I've a Fantasea Bluray Radiant (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/925620-REG/fantasea_line_6071_blueray_radiant_video_light.html) so I'll definiately design something for this sooner or later. We're diving mainly on the Red Sea, Egypt.

Can't wait to see it. Maybe design another handle so you can easily take underwater selfies? I think there is a US/UK and Euro standard for those. For the light, maybe combine it with a cheap flexible lamp clamp so you can adjust the lighting? Where will you be diving?

Not yet, but I'll ask my buddy to make a picture from it during the next dive trip (somewhen in this October). On the other hand, what I'm thinking about is to design a light mount to the botttom of the handlers. I have to check the net whether is there any standardized thread for these underwater lighting mounts or not.

Great idea to combine it with cheap bike shop parts. Any pictures of it in action?

Thanks. Yes, i'm using it and I printed it to a couple of my friends too. The first one I created was printed by 20% infill but the second with 100%. Now it feels a lot more rugged. The black rubber parts are actually from a bike shop - I bought the cheapest available bike wheel ends :)

What a great print. Have you tried it out? Does it work?
