Description

After my gearless follow focus, here a geared one. Swapping the lens is not as easy as it is with the gearless one and you need a lens-gear for every lens but you also need no pressure to create friction. The follow focus and lens gear are compatible with industry standard 0.8 pitch follow focus equipment. The axis use 608 bearings to reduce any noise of threaded rods on plastic that could be picked up by the microphone and to make this run as smooth as possible. The mounting is for an industry standard 15mm rail support system such as my 3d printed shoulder rig: thingiverse.com/thing:7278 With a follow focus you have precise, manual control over the focus (or zoom) of your lens. It is used for professional filming where precise control of the focus is required and where a pumping autofocus would simply ruin the take. Commercial versions are sadly terribly expensive. :( Photos: picasaweb.google.com/Marcus.Wolschon/201105_201106_geared_follow_focus?feat=directlin Blog post: marcuswolschon.blogspot.com/2011/06/3d-printed-geared-follow-focus.html Video (Part I) youtube.com/watch?v=imy2UaUzNeY Update: (2011-07-17) Added lens_gear_version3 with a wider tap for the bolt.

What gears? There are 3 of them.

The gears slip a little even with bolts and washers. Suggestions?

Something is off here. There are serveral versions the same file,
the only ad_prt file has a file name that should never have existed and none of the ad_prt files that should be here exist.
On my laptop I have a dozen camera related designs but not this one. :/

Ok thanks for the information. Do you have an idea of a free CAD reader for os X ? Cheers :)

Yes it is and it's present in the CAD files but I can't do an STL export at the moment.

Hello All ! So don't you think it's missing a piece ? I mean the handwheel who is present on the global view ? Thanks for your help,

Ok, thank you for the answer. Maybe a few days later - I can play around with the smaller lenses so far :-)

Looks like I don't have an STL to upload quickly either. Computer is busy for the next few days. No way I can open something as ressource hungry as the CAD program and export it quickly.

Hello, is there a way to get (my Autodesk Inventor can't handle the files) some lens gears for 89 and 85mm inner diameter? This would fit for my Sigma f2,8/70-200 and Sigma f2,8/24-70.

Thanks for the nice work...

Finally it's ok, it's the piece "Gear_new_repariert" that I didn't get ;) But now other question: you didn't put the handgrip in this pack? Or I'm still blind? Thanks for your help!

Where's the handle/knob? The file for that part doesn't appear to have an STL and I don't have the software I would need to view the source files.
