A real life version of the hero spaceship from the classic arcade game Galaga! It flashes and even plays music from the original game! What's not to love? I made this for my mom's birthday so she could relive the glory of having the high score at every arcade within 1000 miles of her college campus. Check out https://github.com/npiscitello/galaga for more detailed design files and information on the the electronics and code. I ended up implementing a slightly different light pattern than shown in the video. Feel free to drop me a message at my username @ thelittlefish.net if you need any help - I have more stuff on my hard drive than I posted.
Technical
It goes together pretty easily. The final board was built on a perfboard and I used KiCad mostly just as a planning tool so the traces will probably need to be cleaned up if you're going to send it to oshpark or a similar service. I used hot glue to assemble everything because my printer's tolerance isn't great.
I used translucent red and plain white filaments from Ultimachine.
