I don't use STL files normally, Cura does support DAE files. In the top menu click: > File > Load model file... > (select your file) Let me know if this works.

How to convert DAE file to STL? Slic3r or Cura doesn't support it.

The .SKP is the original Sketchup file, you can open it with Sketchup 8 or higher.
