I have a Gaggia Gelateriera ice cream maker that I like a lot. The stirring-thingy is held down by a thumbscrew that actually comprises a standard M6 machine screw with a hex head glued into some kind of plastic cup – or was – because it came off.
The replacement uses a full metal thumbscrew that holds down a plastic cup which in turn holds down the stirring thing. I think my design is superior to the original part because it does not depend on the glue to take the axial force...
Anyway – it works fine and now I'm off making some ice cream.
