We use a lot of Bosch drills at work. Recently, one broke. It turned out that the ring in the second planetary gear stage had shattered. I made a part that allows the gearbox to bypass that stage and operate just in high gear. If you make this replacement, remove the broken ring and all three of the mating planetary gears. Also be sure to thoroughly clean out any debris from the broken parts before reassembling.
