I saw this http://bergcloud.com/case-studies/pixel-trackand thought I had to have my own low-tech pixel display.My version uses even less electricity as you have to switch the pixels by hand.It prints in one piece, start with one colour for the first 3 or 4 layers and then switch to the other colour for the rest of the print.I takes about 4 minutes per pixel, so this one takes about 4 hours to print.Let me know if you'd like one with more or less pixels and I'll upload it!
Thanks Erik. The red I used here is pretty transparent, it works well in front of a light. I'll post a picture of it in a window when I can get it back off my children :)

Cool idea.
What if you started printing in black for the first layers and then switch to semi-translucent, and then backlight it! I bet that will look really awesome.
