This time I wanted to make an arcade joystick that didn't rely on actual arcade parts. I made it for my daughter to play side-on beat-ems and platform games on her PC.
Not using arcade parts means it's cheaper to make and could be reduced in size as it only needs to contain microswitches and a RP2040 Zero to act as an encoder.
I'm located in Australia and I get the RP2040 Zero through Aliexpress for $3, with free postage if you buy five and it's a similar deal on Type-c usb cables. So hopefully wherever you are located you can shop around and get them for a similar price. As an encoder they work well and the PC sees them as Xbox 360 pads.

Also: The buttons are supposed to be printed on their side as this will give them a smoother motion.
