This is another approximation to the RC Shocks, this time sized as the Standard RC 1/10 Car shocks, but completely 3D printable, including the axle and the springs, in rigid plastic like PLA, PETg or ABS.

Characteristics:
  • The sizes goes in steps of 5mm from 55mm to 100mm
  • The springs are compatible with sourced shocks, the same than the standard sized sourced springs are - compatible with the 3D printed Shocks
  • They use no oil, so the response will be more "springy" and less "absorbing"
  • The articulated "Head" and "Foot" are print in place and compatible with M3 Screws
  • All parts are in RTP (Ready to print) position, and those which need a little supports include it and should be easy to remove
  • You only need a drop of glue to assemble them, between the axle and the foot
  • You can adjust the pressure / pre-charge of the spring like in sourced shocks
  • Two different springs are included for each shock length, I would consider them "soft" and "medium"
  • They are easy to print, and a whole shock can be 3D printed between 60 and 120 min, depending on the length and quality

Technical

  • Remember to use low layer heights for the parts which have "screw"... the body, the top spring holder and the cup head.
  • For the springs, use only perimeters / shells, and do your best with speed and "start point" so the higher part prints better
  • Also print with care the Head and Foot with clean retractions, so the print in place articulations are easy to free
  • Consider printing the axle laying over the bed for better sliding inside the body
