The bag doesn't fold up--it holds its shape when empty. The seams can bend 270 degrees (180 folding in, 90 folding out), the triangles have only 180 degrees of freedom (90 folding in, 90 folding out).
I want to make the seams and the triangles looser though. So that'll be in v2.

Wow, nice job! I wonder how the bag folds up when it's empty. Seems like it would look really interesting when that happens.

Sweet! I'm also working on some new designs. I made a handbag inspired by Issey Miyake. Here's one early draft: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2807/12806770853_7014bc29be_c.jpg -- the seams in that version was held together by a rope. I since updated the hinges to a 3d printed model: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7419/12822057314_9646bdfd06_c.jpg
It's still not quite right and the handle is a bit awkward to hold. Once I get the design finalized I'll put it up on YouMagine. :)

Better support strategies is receiving more attention at this moment from our lead developer David. And having a profile for a certain region makes sense. I think it's in the feature requests somewhere, but there are some other higher-priority things before that. I'll tell David that you're interested in this functionality.

Hm.. do you know of anyway to have more control when slicing? I'm thinking of things like.. print these layers at 0.2mm, these layers at 0.1mm. Another thing I would like is to be able to selectively add supports. For instance, being able to click on surface areas I would like to generate supports for and only generate supports for those areas.

It used to be called the Joris mode in Cura ( http://www.rooiejoris.nl/ ) . Nowadays (Cura 14.x) it's called Spiralize (under expert settings). I think the feature predates Slic3r's spiral mode because of Joris being Joris...

Hi Nancy,
<br>I see a seam on your picture, I presume you used Cura to make the gcode.
In Slic3r you have an option, Spiral vase, produce gcode with Z value increasing in continue to produce absolutely seamless model

I agree. Cool. I've recently uploaded the YouMagine API specs on Youmagine.com/api
If you want to give that a go, let me know and I'd be happy to assist!

@Erik -- Great meeting you at Maker Faire. Speaking of easy tools, since I modelled the lampshade in Blender, I was able to make it into a Mixee Labs Creator with our plugin: https://www.mixeelabs.com/creator/twisty-lamp
Remix your own Twisty Lampshade!
